FAQs

Your service includes access to the following online management portals:

Once you purchase Virtual Storage, you’ll need to follow a few steps to activate your service:

Step 1: Allocate your virtual storage array in the Virtual Storage NetApp portal (we’ll provide you with a user guide for this process)

Step 2: Create a Cloud Gateway connection to your Virtual Storage service (this is to ensure a simple, scalable and secure connection to your Virtual Storage service from your Telstra IP network service. It’s also how network traffic generated by your Virtual Storage service is measured).

Once your Cloud Gateway connection is made, we’ll email you to confirm your Virtual Storage service is fully active. This is also the point when billing commences. Learn more about Cloud Gateway and how it works.

User permissions

While user accounts are managed in the Cloud Services Portal, whoever purchased the Virtual Storage service can manage the types of Virtual Storage roles in NetApp’s Virtual Storage portal. All Telstra cloud users start out as a NetApp admin.

When you order Virtual Storage, any new and existing users that you add to your Cloud Services Portal will also be able to access NetApp’s Virtual Storage portal.

Your Telstra cloud services user details are automatically sent to NetApp’s Virtual Storage portal on creation, modification or deletion from your Cloud Services Portal, which is used to manage all your Telstra cloud services.

Note: you cannot add, delete or modify user accounts in NetApp’s Virtual Storage portal. You can only do this in the Cloud Services Portal.

While all Telstra cloud users get automatic access to NetApp’s Virtual Storage portal as an admin (single sign-in links to this portal appear in Telstra’s Cloud Services Portal when you order Virtual Storage), the purchaser of this service can change an admin to a user or read-only role at any time.

  • Admin – assigned to all Telstra cloud customers by default: has permission to create, modify and delete virtual storage arrays, storage groups and storage units.
  • User – has permission to create, modify and delete storage groups and storage units and will have read-only permission for virtual storage arrays.
  • Read – has read-only permission for virtual storage arrays, storage groups and storage units. Users will be assigned this role based on request.
