How do I calculate GST on my bill?

To calculate the GST Component of a call that is taxable, you divide the GST inclusive amount by 11.
For example, if the call cost was $2.20, then you divide $2.20 by 11, which would give you $0.20, which is the amount of GST charged.

Why is the GST on my bill not exactly 10% of the total?

GST free items and rounding may mean the GST amount is not exactly 10% of the total charge.

How is GST charged on my White Pages invoices?

The full GST is paid on the first invoice because the Australian Tax Office considers the supply as being a 'one off '.
Please refer to the attached fact sheet at the bottom of the screen labelled GST Facts.pdf for details.

Why has the GST exclusive amount disappeared from the front page of the paper bill?

Telstra's new look bill was introduced in September 2003. The new design has simplified and uncluttered the Telstra bill making it easier to read and allowing customers to more easily identify key pieces of information. The new format satisfies all legal and regulatory obligations. Feedback from the vast majority of customers has been very positive. As part of the redesign of the bill, 'Excl GST' information has been removed from the front page of the bill (this information is still carried throughout the body of the bill).

Telstra's Online Bill, however, displays both Incl-GST and Excl-GST amounts at the Account Summary level.

The online bill is also a valid tax invoice or tax invoice copy.
