Can I activate/deactivate my M2M SIM cards using the Telstra M2M Control Centre?

Yes, using the Telstra M2M Control Centre, you can remotely activate or deactivate your M2M SIMs. There are a number of SIM states for you to choose from:

 

Test Ready: SIMs are delivered to you in a Test Ready SIM state. Each SIM includes an allowance for testing data and SMS (SMS MO or SMS MT) for free (see your contract for details on the amount of the allowance).

 

 

Once the allowance is used, the SIM will automatically switch to the Activation Ready state. You can also change the SIM state yourself using the Control Centre, once your testing is complete. Remember that if you continue to use the SIM after you have used up your testing allowance, the SIM can move directly into an Activated state.

 

Activation Ready: This is the default state after Test Ready. This state allows the M2M device to be connected to the network without actually billing. SIMs will automatically move from this state to Activated, as soon as the SIM establishes a data connection. You may use the Activation Ready state for SIMs which are embedded or sealed into M2M devices until theyre ready for deployment.

 

Activated: This is the normal active billable state.

 

Inventory: Following the Test Ready state, you may choose to change the SIM to the Inventory state. In this state, SIMs are not connected to the network and are not billable.  You may choose to move your SIM to this state to stop it moving directly to a billable state once all of the test data or the test SMS have been used, for example, if your devices are sitting in a factory waiting to be deployed. 

 

Deactivated: You can switch to this state to indicate that the SIM is temporarily out of use. SIMs in this state are non-billable and are not connected to the network.

 

Retired: You can switch to this state to indicate that the SIM is permanently out of use. SIMs in this state are non-billable and are not connected to the network.
