Q: How do I add an AWS cloud to Telstra Cloud Sight?

A: Simply follow the steps to add a cloud on the Cloud Sight platform.

 

Q: Can I have multiple AWS clouds?

A: Yes, it's as easy as adding another cloud

  1. Can I add AWS as well as other cloud services on the same Cloud Sight tenancy?

Yes, you can use AWS and any other cloud services on offer through Telstra Cloud Sight. Cloud services from multiple providers can be added to the same tenancy as well as the same workspace on Cloud Sight.

 

Q: Can I bring an AWS cloud I've already created to Cloud Sight?

A: Yes. Within the process for adding a cloud and select 'Add existing cloud.' 

Please note, only clouds purchased through Telstra can be added to Cloud Sight.

 

Q: How do I connect my AWS clouds to a network?

A: You can connect AWS clouds to your Telstra Next IP network using a Cloud Connector. Fees apply – see the Cloud Connector pricing guide for details.

Note that you may also incur fees for a Telstra Next IP network. If you don't already have one, we recommend purchasing this before adding a Cloud Connector (it could take up to 10 days to get your Next IP network up and running).

Q: What sort of compliance blueprints are available on Cloud Sight?

A: The following compliance blueprints are currently available on Cloud Sight. 

Note that compliance blueprints can only be applied at the time of adding a cloud to Cloud Sight. 

 

Q: How do I apply a compliance blueprint to Cloud Sight?

A: A compliance blueprint can only be applied to a cloud at the time of adding a cloud to Cloud Sight. See the compliance overview page on our user guide for more information. 

 

Q: Can I access the AWS console?

A: After your Azure cloud is requested, we’ll send you an email with your administrator username, temporary password and a URL that’ll allow you to connect to the AWS console.

 

Q: What are the fees for using AWS on Cloud Sight?

A: There are no set-up fees, and charges will appear on your Telstra bill based on consumed resources.

Q: In what currency are the AWS costs reported on Cloud Sight?

A: All AWS costs on Cloud Sight appear in US dollars (exclusive of GST). Please note that your fees will, however, be added to your Telstra bill in Australian dollars.

Q: How will I be billed for my AWS services?

A: Your AWS fees will be added to your regular Telstra bill, based on the services you've consumed. 

The figures on your bill will appear in Australian dollars, even though all AWS cost reporting on Cloud Sight will be in US dollars.

 

Q: What access does Telstra have to my AWS from Telstra account? 

A: When you purchase AWS from Telstra a cloud account is created under an AWS Master account belonging to Telstra, within an AWS Organisation dedicated to your tenancy. If you have another tenancy, your services will be assigned to another AWS Organization within the Telstra Master account.  

 

You'll be able to perform most operations on your cloud accounts, some with restrictions. Please contact us for a full list of operations you can perform on your cloud account. You will, however, not be allowed to perform any operations on the AWS Master account. 

If you need a dedicated AWS Master tenancy of your own you'll need to purchase AWS Direct, which is only available to select customers. Contact us to find out if you qualify for AWS Direct.

 

Q: What's the difference between AWS from Telstra and AWS Direct? 

A: AWS from Telstra is our standard service that adds your cloud to a shared AWS tenancy. Select customers may purchase AWS Direct, which provides a dedicated AWS Master tenancy. Contact us to find out if you qualify for AWS Direct.
